CULTED: New Album Details Revealed

November 26, 2013

Blackened doom merchants CULTED have unveiled the details of their second full-length album and first release in over four years, "Oblique To All Paths". A stunningly haunting and grim piece of sprawling doom metal, "Oblique To All Paths" is the perfect soundtrack to a desolate, barren winter. The album will be released on CD, 2xLP and digital formats via Relapse Records on January 21 in North America, January 17 in Germany/Benelux/Finland and January 20 in the the rest of the world.

CULTED's story is a unique one: Four band members spread out over Sweden and Canada, having never performed music in the same room as an entire band, instead coming together through the wonders of modern technology to create wholly compelling, top-of-the-line doom. Although the CULTED collective — Michael Klassen (guitar/bass/percussion/noise),Matthew Friesen (guitar/bass/percussion/noise),Kevin Stevenson (drums) and Daniel Jansson (vocals/ambience) — have yet to speak to each other in real time, they connect in mind and spirit through their musical manifestations, making CULTED a truly collaborative effort across international lines, their bleak and epic masterworks of dystopian doom serving as a true testament to their long-distance accomplishments.

CULTED formed in 2007 and has released one full-length and one EP: 2009's "Below The Thunders Of The Upper Deep" and 2010's "Of Death And Ritual".
