CLUTCH Singer Hopes To Release New Live Album Before Christmas

CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon has spoken to The Flint Journal about the group's decision to record their shows tonight and Saturday at The Machine Shop in Flint. Michigan for a possible live album.

"It would be nice to get it out before Christmas," Fallon said, "because after Christmas we have to start buckling down to do our next record."

CLUTCH, who are touring in support of their sixth studio album, "Blast Tyrant" (DRT),will likely be releasing the live album on their own. "We haven't spoken to any record labels about this," said Fallon. "We're doing this at our own discretion and hopefully the technology will work out."

The shows, which will be recorded by engineer/producers Larry Packer and Mark Stanley, will include CLUTCH side-project the BAKERTON GROUP. Both concerts will also be videotaped for possible DVD release.

The set list could vary from night to night, depending upon how things go. "The sets probably will be pretty similar, but there will be songs that occur one night and not the other. Even though we're recording it, we don't want to subordinate the set to the recording," Fallon told The Flint Journal. "An awful lot will depend on how the first night goes. If we ace it, we'll have more freedom for the second night. If nothing ges recorded on the first night, we'll have to rethink it."

CLUTCH's previous live album, "Live at the Googolplex", featured tracks from four cities and was recorded mostly in 2002.

"The last time we recorded when we were opening for another band," Fallon noted, "and we didn't have the freedom to do what we're doing now."
