Frontman Zak Tell of the Swedish rap/metal combo CLAWFINGER has issued the following update on the writing/ recording sessions for the group's new studio album:
"Yes, we are absolutely terrible at updating our news/diary page, especially when we're in the middle of things but I'll have a go at it so that you at least get a vague idea of what is going on in our little studio bubble world! 13 demo tracks are finished, recorded and we've also done a second round on them adding final little 'demo' details and rearranging a few things here & there! For the last week and a half Bård [Torstensen, guitar] and mostly Jocke [Skog, keyboards] have been recording all the drum parts live with Henka [Johansson] and the little I've heard sounds fat and nice as fuck, I just hope we don't make the same mistake as with the last album, that is get so caught up with the importance of the drums that we forget to put some bottom and bass into the mix as well! (My personal opinion, in case anyone was wondering!)
"Anyway, Bård arrived yesterday and started laying down the guitar parts this morning so I guess he'll be busy for the next few days trying to remember how the fuck things are played but once that's taken care of then it's a fast procedure, then it's time for the beast (André Skaug) to lay down some bass and vocals follow shortly thereafter or alongside the bass sessions. Not quite sure exactly how it's all going to go down. The important thing is that we nail it all! Me, well, I'm busy working on a simplistic cover and booklet design to go with it — nothing fancy, as I'm tired shitless of all the overstylized bling bling Photoshop images all over the place. If I'd had a bit more stamina and character then I wouldn't have used the computer at all but I admit, I'm addicted to the damn thing and I've almost forgotten how to use pens and paper!
"The title for the new album is going to be 'Life Will Kill You' so that's no longer a secret. Still you can't really argue with that title as it's the damn simple truth."
CLAWFINGER's latest album, entitled "Hate Yourself with Style", was released in the U.S. in February 2006 via Nuclear Blast Records.
