Classic HADES Albums To Be Reissued In May

February 23, 2005

On Tuesday, May 10, 2005, Rock Ridge Music will reissue two albums from the '80s heavy metal band HADES. The two recordings, "Resisting Success" and "If At First You Don't Succeed", each include a newly-recorded, previously unreleased track.

HADES was formed by guitarist Dan Lorenzo back in 1978, playing around local rock clubs in New York and New Jersey. The band went on to open for groups such as TWISTED SISTER, OVERKILL, ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, and more, touring in the States and Europe until their eventual break-up in 1989. The members of HADESDan Lorenzo - guitar, Scott LePage - guitar (first album),Ed Fuhrman - guitar (LePage's replacement),Alan Tecchio - vocals, Jimmy Schulman - bass, and Tom Coombs - drums, went on to be part of the bands NON-FICTION, DORO, WATCHTOWER, POWER, and SYSTEM ADDICT. HADES reunited in 1998 with new drummer Dave Lescinsky and the band signed to Metal Blade Records, releasing three CDs, "SaviorSelf ", "The Downside", and "DamNation". (Drummer Ron Lipnicki replaced Lescinsky for "DamNation".)

In total, the band released seven full-length recordings. This reissue is of their first two: 1987's "Resisting Success" and 1988's "If At First You Don't Succeed", both originally available on Torrid Records. Those two long out-of-print albums are being remastered and reissued with bonus tracks via Rock Ridge Music. "Resisting Success" now includes the song "Target Fixation", while "If At First You Don't Succeed" features the song "ThinkTank". In a skillful blending of past and present, "ThinkTank" is based on riffs the band created in 1988, plus other new riffs, new melodies and lyrics to create the final product.

"It's fantastic that these two CDs are going to be available once again. We still get e-mails and phone calls asking if they can be purchased," said Tecchio. "Now, thanks to the help of Tom and Dallas Derr at Rock Ridge, we can finally answer 'Yes!"
