CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED's Version Of POWERMAD Classic Available On iTunes

June 1, 2010

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED — the new project led by acclaimed metal drummer Richard Christy (ICED EARTH, DEATH, LEASH LAW, CONTROL DENIED, BURNING INSIDE) — has released its cover version of the POWERMAD classic "Nice Dreams" — which was previously only available as a Japanese bonus track — via iTunes.

Commented Christy: "I've been a huge POWERMAD fan since I first heard the classic album 'Absolute Power' back in 1989. The song 'Nice Dreams' has always been one of my favorite metal songs and I thought it was the perfect cover song for this band, a great way to showcase what an amazing lead guitar player Jason Suecof is, and a great way to pay tribute to one of my favorite underground metal bands. Hopefully some fans who aren't familiar with POWERMAD will hear this song and discover this great thrash metal band, and hopefully POWERMAD fans will enjoy hearing our take on the classic song 'Nice Dreams'. We will be playing it live on tour too!"

Christy also shared his thoughts on the recent passing of SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray and legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio.

"My heart goes out to the guys in SLIPKNOT and Paul Gray's family," Richard said. "What a sad day. I've known Paul and many of the SLIPKNOT guys since 1993 when all of our old bands used to do death metal shows together in Des Moines. For the past 11 years it has made me so proud to see what a massive force in music they've become. I'm so proud of what Paul's accomplished and I’ll never forget what a great guy he was."

"Ronnie James Dio [was] the voice of heavy metal and one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Your music will live on forever. Crank up some 'Holy Diver' to celebrate a true metal legend!"

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED is hitting the road. Fans will finally have the chance to watch Christy and vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH) perform the songs from CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED's debut album this July. They'll be touring from Chicago through Canada and up to Worcester, Massachusetts for a massive show with DREAM THEATER. The trek will also feature comedian Don Jamieson from VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show".

A limited number of VIP tickets will be available. The VIP ticket includes a meet-and-greet with CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED, a limited-edition poster to be signed by the band, a limited-edition exclusive t-shirt, and you will also be allowed to bring any other personal items to have the guys from the band sign.
