CELTIC FROST Mainman: 'I Don't Subscribe To Any Religion'

May 26, 2005

CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:

"Among my incoming messages this week, I found the following e-mail, titled 'Babylon Fell', from an individual naming himself Jarno Lotvonen, from Finland:

"'I want you to answer. Do you believe in god or gods. And what's your religion is.'

"Yes, that was the entire message. And the exact wording. I actually attempted to reply to the message several times. Not surprisingly, this is either a troll or the e-mail address is faulty. My messages bounced back. I am thus placing my reply in this journal:

"The proper way to approach somebody, anybody, for the first time and with a question, no less, would be by using the word please.

"As to the body of your question, that is none of your (nor anybody else's) business. On account of the polite inquiry, however, no I don't believe in God, nor Gods, nor in a Satan, for that matter. I don't subscribe to any religion, neither a 'good' one nor a 'bad' one. Some so-called 'heathen' religions are of historic and intellectual interest to me.

"For better or for worse, I am a human being, and that places a significant responsibility on my shoulders: I don't believe but rather know that we should respect this planet, its nature, and the love for one another. Nobody needs a religion to follow this universal and fundamental truth."
