CANIS DIRUS Signs With MORIBUND RECORDS

July 7, 2009

Enigmatic black metal duo CANIS DIRUS has inked a deal with Moribund Records. The band's debut album, "A Somber Wind From a Distant Shore", is scheduled for release on August 25. An exclusive MP3 of the track "Garden of Death" is available on the Moribund web site.

According to a press release, "forged in the desolate hinterlands of Minnesota, CANIS DIRUS — named after the 'dire wolf,' existing 100,000 years ago and indigenous to North America — base their epic songs around their disdain for the fact that humans have been perpetually encroaching on nature and the natural beauty of our land, encapsulating that foreboding atmosphere in the fittingly titled 'A Somber Wind From a Distant Shore'."

Commented the band: "We stand above and against the sick animal, man — the herd animal. Through loathing and indifference our art is an expression of contempt and hatred for the ill-constituted and weak. Our will is our own."
