BRUCE DICKINSON: New Solo Album, DVD Update

May 21, 2004

Bruce Dickinson fan site The Bruce Dickinson Well-Being Network has posted the following update on the IRON MAIDEN singer's upcoming solo album:

"New music and DVD!

As expressed in some of the rumours that have been floating around the web lately Bruce and [guitarist] Roy [Z] have recorded new material in L.A. The recordings are however not finished and won't be in the near future as Roy is working on the next JUDAS PRIEST album at the moment. There is no time schedule set for the continuation of the recording at the moment and the release of the finished material still lies far a head in time.

"On the subject of the Bruce DVD: Yes, it is in the works. But as with the possible album, there nothing is decided for sure on what will actually be on it or when it will be out, though it looks like it might be out sometime this year. Word is that the archives are being searched for possible features at the moment.

"A qualified guess is that it will probably have all the promo videos (hopefully including 'Elected') and it will have live bits as well, from all over Bruce's solo career.

"DVD video-compilation?

"We had a chat with Bruce on Saturday June 28 after the MAIDEN gig at Stocholm Stadion and amidst ideas on flying being applicable on raising children and putting criminals into custard rather than custady we talked about the idea of a Bruce DVD. The idea has been with him for some time. This is what he said about it in 1999:

" 'We have that stuff available [...] from Brazil [and] we've also got an entire SKUNKWORKS live video that we shot on film that was only released in Japan. Plus we've got the 'Tattooed Millionaire' live video and all of the promo videos which have never been released. So actually there's an awful lot of video stuff. But I don't want to release a video until enough people have got DVDs. I would like to wait until we can release a DVD because I'm very impressed with DVD. Especially for something like music where you get really good soundquality. I would like to do a nice DVD at some point but all of these things really are dealing with stuff that I've already done.'

"His current thoughts on a possible DVD-release are basically the same: To compile the live videos and all the promo videos. He also had the idea of him presenting every promo video (as MEGADETH's 'Rust In Peace' video) giving an insight to what the idea of the video and the song is/was and so on.

"This sure sounds like an interesting prospect. The main factor for Bruce not to put it out immediately is that he feels he wants to be able to do some proper promotion for it himself and that is something that his current schedule with MAIDEN doesn't allow. Which means that it's still at least a year ahead in time. Let's keep our fingers crossed..."
