BRET MICHAELS, SKID ROW, SLAUGHTER Confirmed For Iowa's WATERSTOCK ROCK

April 14, 2005

Kyle Munson of Des Moines Register is reporting that POISON lead singer Bret Michaels, FOREIGNER (led by Mick Jones, minus Lou Gramm),SLAUGHTER, SKID ROW (minus Sebastian Bach) and HELLS BELLS (a Florida-based AC/DC cover band) have been confirmed for the the second annual installment of Waterstock Rock, set to take place June 18 at Water Works Park in Des Moines, Iowa. Tickets start selling April 25 through Ticketmaster for $20 each and eventually will cost $40 at the gate.

About 5,000 fist-pumping fans of 1980s hair metal flocked to the inaugural Waterstock Rock last June, when Des Moines, Iowa-based band COLD FILTERED rocked the beer tent between sets by JACKYL and others on the main stage.

"It was an opportunity to get in front of the right people," said COLD FILTERED frontman Brian Burgett . His band specializes in GUNS N' ROSES, AC/DC and METALLICA covers.

Willie Glosser, director of the Hy-Vee next to Southridge Mall, and Wes Snook , director of the Hy-Vee at 4707 Fleur Drive, once again have teamed with concert promoter Damon Vogt from Creston, Neb., for the fest. Glosser promised "more things happening on the grounds" this year that should lead to "somewhat of a carnival atmosphere." Expect, for instance, more food variety and a Marines-sponsored water-obstacle course.

The goal is to boost attendance to 8,000, Glosser said, then to mount a series of three or more summer concerts in 2006 — along the lines of what Vogt has done in Nebraska with his country, rock and Christian music festivals in the middle of the sandhills.
