BLITZKRIEG Part Ways With Guitarist, Announce Replacement

Legendary NWOBHM outfit BLITZKRIEG have parted ways with guitarist Paul Nesbitt. "Nesbitt recently became a father for the very first time and he feels that his time with the KRIEG has come to an end," reads a posting on the group's web site. "BLITZKRIEG would like to welcome to the band their new guitarist Guy Laverick. Guy comes with a wealth of playing and writing experience having learnt his trade at the guitar institute of technology in Los Angeles. Guy has played with the likes of Paul Gilbert and Michael Angelo as well as a host of bands during his time in L.A."

BLITZKRIEG's most recent album, "Sins and Greed", was released last July via Metal Nation Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Absolute Power" was recorded at Trinity Heights Studios in Newcastle Upon Tyne (U.K.) and features bass player Paul Brewis, who replaced Andy Galloway in early 2004. In addition, the CD marks Ken Johnson's first studio album following his performance on "Absolutely Live".

BLITZKRIEG have been confirmed for this year's installment of the Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 8-10 in Sölvesborg, Sweden. They will also perform at the Headbangers Open Air festival on July 14-15 in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany.
