BLAZE Officially Confirm Bassist's Departure

April 28, 2003

BLAZE, the British band led by former IRON MAIDEN/WOLFSBANE singer Blaze Bayley, have finally officially confirmed the departure of bassist Rob Naylor (as first reported here on April 4). According to the group's official web site, "Rob informed the band he wanted to leave shortly after returning from the U.S. [following their appearance at New Jersey's March Metal Meltdown V festival] and after being given some time to think over his decision, has decided to stick with it. Wayne Banks (ex-SABBAT, GODSEND, THE NEWCRANES) will be taking over the bass-playing duties on BLAZE's forthcoming U.K. tour and subsequent festivals, but has yet to be announced as the official replacement for Naylor.

BLAZE's current touring line up is as follows:

Blaze Bayley - vocals
Steve Wray - guitar
John Slater - guitar
Wayne Banks - bass
Phil Greenhouse - drums

A decision on the permanent line up for BLAZE will be made later this year before the band begin preparations for their third full-length album, tentatively due in early 2004.
