BLACK SABBATH Drummer BILL WARD: 'Let's Rock!'

June 4, 2004

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has told Launch Radio Networks he's going to have to take a trip through the group's old records to get ideas for a set list for the band's upcoming appearance at this year's Ozzfest.

“I mean, it's not new for me to listen back to the old stuff, because I do it anyway," he said. "I do listen to that stuff. Particularly when I'm putting a show together, a new show, I like to listen through to the albums to see what to pick out for the show, you know? So it's great to listen to them."

SABBATH drummer Bill Ward recently wrote a letter lamenting the "sad news" that he was being replaced on drums for the band's Ozzfest reunion. He also hinted that he was willing to negotiate the terms of the proposed tour agreement, which apparently weren't to his liking.

Earlier this week, the Ozzfest camp sent an announcement saying: "After initially declining an offer to join BLACK SABBATH members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler for a reunion on Ozzfest 2004, drummer Bill Ward has now reconsidered." The announcement also included an exclamation from Sharon Osbourne, saying: "You have the original BLACK SABBATH and the original JUDAS PRIEST. What more could you want!"

Responding to the latest Ozzfest statement, Bill released the following statement on Thursday (June 3):

"Dear SABBATH People,

"My very best respect to you.

"I have read the new Ozzfest statement that it's going to be an original member line-up for Ozzfest '04.

"In the immortal words of Buddy Holly, 'Well alright.'

"And while maintaining some disagreement with the Ozzfest statement verbiage, all I can say is 'God Bless BLACK SABBATH. Let's Fxxx-in' Rock.'"
