Benefit Concert Planned For SUPERJOINT RITUAL's JIMMY BOWER, SUPLECS

March 9, 2006

Up to 10 bands and over 40 musicians will take par in the Lynyrd Skynyrd Katrinathon, set to take place Saturday, April 1 at The Scene, located at 806 E. Colorado St. in Glendale, CA. Doors will open at 8:00 pm and bands will hit the stage at 10:00 pm. Ticket price is $7.00 and proceeds will go directly to three New Orleans bands hit hard by Hurricane Katrina: HAZARD COUNTY GIRLS, Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, MYSTIK KREWE OF CLEARLIGHT) and SUPLECS.

Laurie Es Sternberger, of Armadillicious Music Network, christened the evening and developed the theme. "Promoting these tribute events was an idea I swiped from the local music scene in Austin Texas," Laurie explains. "The shows were called 'hoot nights' and every different kind of musician from every genre would congregate together to pay homage to their icons. I always thought it was a great way to show solidarity. When I was approached to promote this benefit, I thought SKYNYRD has endured a plane crash, deaths, heartbreak, addiction and lawsuits. They are the perfect band to hold up as an example of perseverance in the face of all unbeatable odds."

Each act taking part in the Lynyrd Skynyrd Katrinathon will perform two LYNYRD SKYNYRD songs. The grand finale will feature a star-studded super group of musicians performing up to three SKYNYRD songs. Musicians in the finale will include Tom 5 (WHITE ZOMBIE, ANGEL ROT),Steve Darrow (HOLLYWOOD ROSE),Steve Priest (THE SWEET),Dale Crover (MELVINS),Derek Christensen (B-MOVIE RATS),Brian Kehew (co-producer of FIONA APPLE's "Extraordinary Machine", THE MOOG COOKBOOK) and more. All of the bands, as well as the event promoters are donating 100% of the earnings to the NOLA bands named.
