BEHEMOTH Frontman Says First OZZFEST 2007 Show Went 'Better Than Expected'

July 13, 2007

The Ozzfest 2007 tour officially kicked off Thursday (July 12) in Auburn, Washington.

One of the bands performing on the festival's second stage is Polish extreme metal outfit BEHEMOTH, whose frontman Nergal has checked in with the following report:

"It's just started and I can tell you it feels great!

"Yesterday [July 11] we spent the whole day getting ready for these shows. Got a lot of new equipment (new ESP guitars! YEZZZ!) and we got new road crew and I'm really happy it's all working fine.

"The first show was better than I expected though it's always a struggle to go on in full sun wearing all this gear, armors and masks.

"I wanted to thank all the people out there who came down, stood the whole day in the heat. You seriously rock!

"Earlier today I saw NILE, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED and I've just seen Ozzy and let me tell you something…I'm blown away! This is the ultimate metal tour and we couldn't be happier about being a part of it.

"'The Apostasy' is coming out here in a few days…I'm excited! Juuuhuuuu!…

"We are heading to Canada in a few hours. I'd better catch some sleep now! Stay tuned friends, I'll keep you updated!"

BEHEMOTH occupies the direct-support, non-rotating slot right before second stage headliners HATEBREED. The group's much anticipated new album, "The Apostasy", is set for a July 17 release on Century Media.
