BEHEMOTH Forced To Cancel SUMMER BLAST Festival Appearance

June 19, 2005

Polish death/black metallers BEHEMOTH were forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at the Summer Blast Fest in Germany Friday (June 17) after getting into a car accident on the way to the German border.

Commented mainman Nergal: "We took off Thursday night for Germany, but on the way to the border we all fell asleep…including our driver. I remember I was sleeping pretty hard when suddenly I felt the van start shaking. Heard one of my guys screaming at the driver. We were in shock. Our van hit the leftside guardrail and we managed to pull over shortly after. The car was still driveable but at the border they wouldn't let us through 'coz of the broken lights. We hate to cancel any shows and we hardly ever do, but this time it was an unfortunate accident. We wanna say sorry to all the fans who were waiting for us Friday evening. Shit happens but I can promise that we are coming back to Germany soon!"

Nergal also recounted a recent incident in Texas when the group's van was shot at 10 times with 9mm gun.

"That was just insane," Nergal said. "We stayed at a hotel in Texas after the show in Houston. We were separated in three hotel rooms while usually we take two and some of the guys (who can't stand snoring or heavy partying) stay in the van. This night we were just lucky. Around 5:00 a.m. someone shot the van with 9mm gun and ran away. He definitely wanted to blow up the van by aiming at the gas tank. Fortunately it didn’t happen. Still he hit the driver seat and a passenger seat. Today when I talk about it, it sounds funny but we all were pretty scared that morning. Can't even think of what would have happened if there were any guys in the van…"
