BALZAC Returns With New Horror-Infused Japanese Punk Rock Record

Just in time for the Halloween season, Japanese horror punks BALZAC return on October 23 with a new album, "Deep Blue: Chaos From Darkism", on Misfits Records.

"This is an important release for BALZAC, as we think it completely unites both a horror rock sound and a Japanese punk style together as one," said frontman Hirosuke Nishiyama.

Nishiyama formed the band in back in 1992, inspired by horror punk originators the MISFITS. The trio connected with the MISFITS through the course of touring and ultimately signed with Misfits Records. On "Deep Blue", BALZAC's third full-length release for the label (and seventh in Japan),BALZAC is pulling inspiration from the punk scene in their homeland, helping to further distinguish BALZAC's personal identity.

The 80-minute CD features over an hour of new music with 20 minutes of exclusive bonus tracks. Accompanying the CD is a bonus DVD with over two hours of footage, including an entire BALZAC concert, documentaries from the band’s two U.S. tours, five video clips, plus rare live footage. The package also contains a 24-page booklet.

"Deep Blue" was initially released in the summer of 2007 by Misfits Records in a limited edition highly-collectible hard-cover book format, which sold out quickly.

"Deep Blue" is available by digital download at the iTunes store in the U.S. and Canada. The digital version includes three videos and an alternate 18-page booklet. This version also includes two iTunes exclusive bonus tracks not found on the traditional CD version. Both songs are available for individual download. A limited edition skull-shaped picture disc featuring those bonus tracks is also available exclusively at the Misfits Records online store. Released in conjunction with the full-length CD, the picture disc is the only place the tracks are available aside from iTunes.

Misfits Records is distributed by Rykodisc, a Warner Music Group company.
