ARSIS: Demo Version Of New Song Available For Streaming

March 19, 2012

Virginia-based melodic tech-death metal masters ARSIS promise to return in late 2012/early 2013 with a new album and lead guitarist/singer James Malone back at the helm. As proof of their commitment, the band has chosen to release another pre-production track, "Choking On Sand". Check it out below.

Malone was forced to sit out ARSIS's "Frets Of Fury" tour with FIREWIND, WHITE WIZARD and NIGHTRAGE "due to professional and personal commitments." Filling in for him during the trek were Mike Parks on vocals and Brandon Ellis on guitar.

"Sometimes life forces us to make changes and mine certainly has," commented Malone. "As a result, I have found myself in a much better place than I have been in years and I am so excited to be working on music again. I can honestly say that I am more inspired than I have been in years."

"I truly feel the new music is some of the best material we have ever written," Malone added. “I know every band always says that when they are working on new music, but I do truly mean it."

Formed in 2000 by Berklee prodigies James Malone and Mike Van Dyne, ARSIS has grown a strong and steady following for their unique intellectual brand of melodic death metal through various lineup changes. Most recently, ARSIS guitarist Nick Cordle was tapped to replace Christopher Amott in the Swedish/German extreme metal band ARCH ENEMY.

"I could not be happier that Nick landed the gig with ARCH ENEMY. He is by far the best musician I have ever collaborated with," James said.

ARSIS' latest album, "Starve For The Devil", sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 13 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Starve For The Devil" was released in North America on February 9, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was recorded at Planet Z Studios in Hadley, Massachusetts with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with MUNICIPAL WASTE, AGNOSTIC FRONT and HATEBREED, among others.
