Sweden's THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX, who include in their ranks ENTOMBED bassist Jorgen Sandstrom, have finally announced a firm release date for their second album, When We Are Done, Your Flesh Will Be Ours. According to the group's official web site, the LP will be released on July 16th through Germany's Massacre Records. The band goes on to say that "we've been told that the promotion for this album will be a lot better as the promo department has changed and we're starting, what seems to be, a promising relationship in working terms with [Massacre Records] promotion guy Stephan Treu. So, now you know who's to be clothlined if we´re not featured in all the magazines. We can now only hope that Massacre will work a little for us as we know that we've put ourselves to the limit for the cause of making one murdering f.cken' album, and we wouldn't want them to f.ck it all up (again)."

ZIMMER'S HOLE, featuring guitarist Jed Simon and bassist Byron Stroud of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, have made several cuts from their upcoming Legion Of Flames CD available for download via the group's MP3.com web site. For more info, go to this location.

According to the Associated Press, a 4-year-old boy drowned on Saturday, June 16th while at a birthday party at the home of METHODS OF MAYHEM mainman and former MOTLEY CRUE drummer Tommy Lee. The boy (not one of Lee's sons) was apparently one of several children attending the party on Saturday, June 16th at Lee's Malibu home when the victim was found floating face down in the shallow end. Two adults pulled him from the water and began CPR and Lee called 911. Paramedics transported the boy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are reportedly investigating the incident as an accidental drowning. Police did not release the name of the child.

RAGE drummer Mike Terrana and guitarist Victor Skolski will take part in a "workshop" at the Limelight in Stuttgart, Germany on July 13th, which will see Mike and Victor playing for about 15 minutes each before they are joined by bassist Thomas Senff for a 30-minute jam. The workshop will be followed by a full set by the band CHINCHILLA.

DOKKEN bassist Jeff Pilson recently posted an update on the band's status via a lengthy posting on his official web site. According to Jeff, the reason DOKKEN appeared at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 9th with a line-up that didn't include guitarist Reb Beach or himself (former EUROPE guitarist John Norum and bassist Mikkee D performed in their place) is simply that "Don needed to confirm the date quickly, so he did so before we could communicate. From his angle, I understand his feeling that it was too important a gig to turn down. We hadn't played Europe in a long time, and we've so wanted to perform there. But of course, I have this UM deadline that I can't rearrange, so it's impossible for me to make it. Am I a bit disturbed by the Sweden gig? No, not really. A little surprised, perhaps, because it seems odd to call it DOKKEN. But with circumstances being the way they are, I totally understand and don't have a problem with it."

...

Pilson also addressed the much-rumored departure of Beach by saying that "I don't like to speak for Reb on this matter, but he wasn't able to make it for his own reasons, and I completely respect that. This brings up the Reb issue, which I'll tell you is a bit confusing to me as well. The honest truth is nothing has been decided or confirmed as far as I know, but there are things going on which lead me to believe that his participation is in question. I also don't want to speak for Don, but I know he wants to write with John Norum while they're in Sweden, and this leads me to believe he very likely would like to have John in the band. I don't wish to comment on that right now, but I will say that having Reb in the band has been an invaluable shot of inspiration that I wouldn't want to lose. I understand Reb also has his own musical direction to follow, and I'm a fan of his and would love to see him go really far. But he was certainly a big part of the last two records, and I know how much he loves to play with the band live. Time will tell what happens, and I'll certainly pass the word on as I get it."

...

As for the status of the next DOKKEN studio album, it is "still a ways off—pretty hard to put a time on it at this point," according to Pilson. "I think it's safe to say having a record by September is highly unlikely. I've said this before so this shouldn't be a big surprise, but Don's strong points are not schedules and deadlines. I applaud him for his optimistic enthusiasm, but I like to set you guys a bit straighter than that."

Memphis' DUST FOR LIFE have parted ways with Wind-Up Records and their management (JHMP Management) and are currently demoing new material at their home studio before shopping around for a new deal.

Former FAILURE/ON vocalist Ken Andrews reportedly appears on 10,000 Hz Legend, the new album from French electropop duo AIR, which was issued a few weeks back. Andrews lends his vocal abilities to the tracks "Radio #1", "Lucky & Unhappy" and "People In The City".

Dark metallers AGALLOCH are planning to release an EP's worth of material titled Of Stone, Wind and Pillor, during the summer. The CD will feature an unreleased three song 7", a cover of "Kneel To The Cross" by SOL INVICTUS and a neo-classical piece penned by AGALLOCH mastermind Breyer. The band will record the follow-up to their debut Pale Folklore in September.

MOTLEY CRUE bassist Nikki Sixx has posted a very personal and emotional message in the Rock'n'Roll Diary section of the group's official web site that deals primarily with the four-stringer's much-rumored relapse into substance abuse during the tail end of last year. Here is Sixx's posting in its entirety:

...

"Dear God, its me and I have a story to tell you, its not like you weren't watching me but this confession need not be so private...

...

"What I'm about to say seems like a nightmare, but in fact it's more like a horror film that won't stop running through me and my wife's head...... this last summer, I was on tour and under more stress than I ever been in my life. Everything seemed to be on a hot button all of a sudden. The years and years of the pressure plate had finally built to a boiling point inside me.(( too many to list right now.....)) I had started to hide behind sleeping pills to mask my anxiety at night and was dabbling in drinking even though I knew it was wrong (( an event I shared only with my wife from time to time..)).... Now here's the beginning of the sick part of the story....My wife who was pregnant at the time sat home and took care of my three children and her son and at the same time kept our home together and organized. As she did this I began my slide into lies and secrecy on the road, something I don't do well and have never done to Donna since our marriage 5 years ago. Of course, I came home a complete f.cking wreck... detached.... depressed and unable to enjoy Donna's pregnancy or be there as a father, friend or husband. So a time that should have been shrouded in celebration was veiled in confrontations and disappointments...We were at an all time low considering it should have been the happiest time of our life..I now know in coming thru the other side how alone, how sad and how confused that must have made Donna feel.

...

"But God, at this point of my confession is where I become a..hole of the year....

...

"After years of talking about having a baby together the wonderful day finally came....only to be a bittersweet entry into the world for our sweet little daughter..I finally lost all sanity and control of my mind.... and I moved out of our home (two weeks after Donna gave birth)....I cant understand this..nor can I explain this..I can only regret this.. But, quicker than I expected, I started a decent into drugs and drinking and hanging out with low lifes and sluts. Of course the hangers on were all of a sudden saying they were my friends, when my true best friend ((my wife)) laid at home with our new daughter recovering from a c-section alone..........at some point I came out of my haze of self pity, and saw what I had lost and the damage I had done. I had broken up my family, I had confused my kids, and I had hung out and cheated on my wife with pigs and whores who weren't worthy of licking the bottom of her shoes. In coming to terms with my insanity I needed to tell Donna of my wrong doings...and the TRUTH. First, so nobody thinks she doesn't know...cause she's not a fool... Second, out of respect for her and my kids. I want her to be able to hold her head up with dignity rather than humiliation. Third, in hope for a clean slate and her forgiveness........

...

"I know you were watching, now I hope you're listening..... I'm not speaking to you God, but to my wife… when I say I'm sorry and I regret every moment I wasn't with you, I mean it from the core of my soul. I can't believe I did what I did to you. First I lost my dignity, then I took hers away, then I lost my family.

...

"Donna, I hope you are willing to forgive me and we can watch our kids grow up together as one. Donna, you know I love you more than life itself.... and I am sorry for how I have disrespected you in front of God and the all the world.

...

"Forever in love....

through thick and thin

your husband..

Nikki"
