ARCH ENEMY: European Tour Fall 2005 Diary Part 1

October 7, 2005

ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"Hello all ARCH ENEMY fans! Yes, we are on the road again...

"The European tour has started off so well that we are all quite amazed about it! Firstly, the places we have played so far have been nice and packed — and full of METAL energy — which always makes it so much more fun to play! Our support act TRIVIUM are tearing it up, too — making us work harder, just the way it should be! Cool band and nice guys.

"Also it's been working out really, really well with Fredrik Åkesson on guitar — he's really nailing it — this guy a deadly guitarist! We are having a great time hanging out jamming and playing the shows... I'd like to thank all the fans at the shows so far for giving him so much support — you guys are really the best!

"We started in Paris, which always very special and strong for us...a lot of people at that show and super-cool reaction, we were a little nervous as it was the first show with Fredrik, but it turned out be just fine! A BIG thank you to Frederic + Laurent and all the members from the Dark Enemy fanclub — you guys rule! Paris wins the 'loudest singing along' prize so far!

"The Cologne show at the Live Music Hall was killer too. Audience reaction wise — probably the best headline show we've ever played in Germany so far! Cologne is Angela's [Gossow, vocals] hometown and her family came down and hung out, also some people from the record label...a few drinks... etc — a great evening!

"The 2 Dutch shows in Haarlem and Eindhoven went very well too, we played two brand new high-tech purpose built venues (it was almost like playing in Japan)...really nice places with great, great sound systems...it sounded KILLER!

The fans in Holland are always cool too...we celebrated the succesful Dutch shows on the bus last night with a couple of beers and cranking Dutch Heavy Metal legends PICTURE...the fantastic 'Diamond Dreamer' album! We look forward to returning to Holland soon!

"Something really cool... DIO was rehearsing yesterday with guitarplayer Doug Aldrich in a smaller room at the Effenar (Eindhoven venue) — it sounded HOT! I bumped into Doug on the street and he was very cool and complimented me on my guitar playing — which was very nice of him. Really cool guy, and a SUPERB guitarplayer. As it turns out, ARCH ENEMY will be hooking up with DIO at the Ternat Rock Festival in Begium the day after tomorrow...I can't wait to see DIO!

"So life is good in the ARCH ENEMY camp — looking forward to playing the rest of these European shows! Hopefully I'll see some of you out there..."
