ANVIL's Documentary Being Shopped At CANNES

May 16, 2009

According to Variety.com, ANVIL's acclaimed documentary "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" is now being shopped at the Cannes Marché du Film, the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival and the largest film market in the world.

Tonight, ANVIL will perform in Cannes at Morrison's Irish Pub on rue Teisseire, from "10 p.m. 'til late," according to the invite, which also doubles as a beer coaster.

The Works Intl. is repping international rights to the documentary, which was directed by Sacha Gervasi.

"Anvil! The Story of Anvil" has grossed $297,000 at the domestic box office — and $541,000 worldwide — since opening in three theaters on April 4.

ANVIL will perform at the Canadian debut of Rock On The Range — America's premiere destination rock festival — on June 27 at Winnipeg, Manitoba's Canad Inn Stadium. The 2009 lineup for the nationally renowned festival centrally located in the heart of the Canada will be highlighted by performances from some of rock's biggest artists around the world, including BILLY TALENT, RISE AGAINST, RANCID, THEORY OF A DEADMAN and SHINEDOWN. This will mark the first major rock festival in Winnipeg in over a decade.

ANVIL will appear at this year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony, which will be held June 15 at Indigo2 in London, England's O2 Arena . ANVIL will perform on the main stage of the annual awards bash, which is owned by Future's Metal Hammer magazine. The event celebrates the great and good from the international world of rock and metal as well as playing host to several of the loudest bands on the planet to an audience of frothing and frenzied kids.
