ANVIL CHORUS, MORDRED Reunite For Benefit Show In San Francisco

April 17, 2007

Veteran San Francisco metal bands ANVIL CHORUS, MORDRED and MERCENARY reunited this past Thursday night, April 12 at the Bottom Of The Hill in San Francisco to help raise money for the family of guitarist Curtis Grant (ex-BLACK CHERRY, AMERICAN HEARTBREAK),who recently lost his battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The show marked the first appearance of ANVIL CHORUS with original guitarist Doug Piercy (ex-HEATHEN) in over 20 years, as well as the return of original MORDRED vocalist Steve Scates and drummer Erik Lannon after 22 years. The "near-capacity" concert was reportedly a "tremendous success," and substantial proceeds were raised for the Grant family. The evening's performances were all documented, and there are plans for a live DVD to be released at a later date.

Over the last 20 years, Curtis displayed a wide array of talents, playing in bands that ranged from hardcore punk, to glam rock to metal. Having devoted the last decade towards family life, Curtis had settled comfortably into his role as a father, and was devoting much time to his Native American heritage and community. Donations in his memory may be made to The Friendship House, 56 Julian Ave., San Francisco, CA 94103.
