ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN: Why GEORGE W. BUSH Has Been A Terrible President

July 24, 2004

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"As [the ANTHRAX webmaster] Brent says on the home page, 'Voting counts, opinions don't', and I know my opinion means nothing to anyone except me. At least it shouldn't. Use your own brain. Use the Internet for something other than metal and porn for five minutes a day and find out for yourself what is going on. Make up your own opinion and then yell it at everyone as loud as you can like I do! There's an old saying, 'Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.' Well my saying is, 'Your opinion is an asshole.'

"Seriously, don't listen to me, or Bill O'Reilly (or anyone on Fox News),or Al Franken, or Bill Maher (although I usually agree with him on political issues, he does date whores),or CNN (remember BASKET FULL OF PUPPIES?),or Rush 'My Back Is Killing Me' Limbaugh, Janeane Garofalo (especially Janeane Garofalo OY!),or even Michael Moore, whom I love and adore. Listen to yourselves. Ask questions. Demand answers.

"Why were the bin Ladens allowed to fly out of this country two days after 9/11?

"Why are we paying over two dollars a gallon for gas?

"Which Olsen twin needs a cheeseburger?

"The 9/11 Commission report just came out (even after Bush and his lackeys tried their Texas best to suppress it, they threw 3 million dollars at it, compared to 50 million to investigate Clinton's Whitewater deals, priorities hello!) and it says there was no link between al Qaeda and Iraq. No link. So why did we go to war with them? WMD's? They must be with the real killers that OJ is looking for.

"Maybe it's just me, but it's pretty much universally agreed to that Osama was behind the WTC attacks. So, and maybe it's just me again, but I would think that you would want to go after the man that attacked and killed 3000 Americans until you got him. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor we didn't go and attack China. Yes, we went into Afghanistan, ran around in the caves, blew up a bunch of shit. Daisycutters baby. Where's Osama? We can't find him. Shit. Well we better do something. Then we go to war in Iraq. But there's no link to Osama. There's no WMD's. There's W's daddy's enemy. Saddam is still there. And there's oil. Black gold. Holy Halliburton Dick! We'll go bomb the shit out of him and try to 'rebuild' Iraq. Great idea. Now headless bodies are being found everyday and there's no end in site.

"A clusterfuck in military speak.

"Don't you think that all the soldiers that are dying and all the civilians that are being kidnapped and beheaded and let's not forget the billions of dollars we are paying for this war would've been better served tracking down and either killing or bringing to justice the man responsible for the worst attack ever on American soil?

"Why aren't we getting answers to these and many other questions?

"And what is my opinion I hear you not asking (if you haven't figured that out yet)?

"I am neither Democrat nor Republican. If I truly felt that things were better today than they were before Bush, I'd be chanting U.S.A. U.S.A. 4 more years! But alas, I cannot. And Kerry? He was a great judge in 'My Cousin Vinny'. President? Oy.

"There are many reasons why I think Bush has been a terrible president.

"Here's one:

"Four more years of this ultra conservative right-wing born again Christian crusading administration (that will no doubt have the ability to appoint one, maybe two new supreme court justices) and you can kiss good-bye many of the rights and freedoms that you've known (if you're not an ultra conservative right-wing born again Christian) and loved all your life. A big broad bold statement that is. Scary? Yep. When Clear Channel (one of Bush's biggest supporters) owns everything, your freedom of choice is kaput. It's not conspiracy, it's fact. You don't think so? When mainstream commercial middle of the road artists like Whoopi Goldberg and Linda Rondstadt are getting fired for expressing their opinions about the president, that's scary. Are we no longer allowed to criticize our leaders? When did this happen? Did I miss a meeting? Since when did America start turning into a dictatorship?

"It's the MOST AMERICAN THING TO BE ABLE TO CRITICIZE OUR LEADERS AND EXPRESS OURSELVES FREELY. Our first amendment states it. Read it you ignorant pricks (not you reading this per se, just the ignorant pricks that want to censor us as Americans). I am an American. I love this country. Do you?

"Now go do your research."
