ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN Confirms Plans To Tour Europe With MOTÖRHEAD

August 14, 2002

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has confirmed via the band's official web site the group's plans to tour Europe with MOTÖRHEAD during October.

"We're finally getting back to Europe after four years," Ian wrote in his regular online column, Alpha Mail. "And this won't be the only run either. We plan on coming back a few times. These dates are just the beginning of the whole new cycle for [the forthcoming CD] We've Come For You All.

"And we get to do it with MOTÖRHEAD.

"Finally, after all these years… We've never toured together. The first time I met Lemmy was in 1986 at the St. Moritz club in London. I was there doing promo for Spreading The Disease. I saw him at the bar and we started talking and drinking and drinking and drinking and I made the huge mistake of trying to keep up with him. What did I know about beer in Europe? Nothing then. I ended up with alcohol poisoning and was puking on the plane all the way to Amsterdam the next day. Good times. Now when I bump into him at the Rainbow, I'll have a Maker's and know my place. We are going to be in the middle slot with an as-yet-unknown opener. This should give us a decent set length. I'm really excited about these dates. Big halls, thousands of metalheads every night. I'm fucking pumped, I wish it started today. It's going to be great."

Confirmed dates so far are as follows:

Oct. 13 - Manchester, UK @ Apollo
Oct. 14 - Glasgow, SCO @ Clyde Aud
Oct. 15 - Birmingham, UK @ NIA
Oct. 17 - Newport, UK @ Newport Centre
Oct. 18 - TBA
Oct. 19 - London, UK @ Wembley Arena
Oct. 21 - Offenbach, GER @ Stadthalle
Oct. 22 - Stuttgatart, GER @ Philharmonie
Oct. 23 - Berlin, GER @ Columbia Hall
Oct. 25 - Munich, GER @ Colosseum
Oct. 27 - Cologne, GER @ E Werk
Oct. 28 - Amsterdam, NETH @ Heineken Music Hall
Oct. 29 - Paris, FRA @ Zenith

With regards to ANTHRAX's much-delayed new album, We've Come For You All (now rumored to be coming out through Beyond Records in the US),Ian had the following to say: "Just to reiterate what I said before, we refuse to let anyone or anything fuck up this record. When everything is set up right, we will let it go. That's it. We won't disappoint."
