ANNIHILATOR Mainman: We Were Never Confirmed For DESTRUCTION Tour

September 6, 2005

ANNIHILATOR guitarist Jeff Waters has posted a letter on the band's web site that he sent to DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer regarding Schmier's claim that Waters "let [DESTRUCTION] down" in connection with the two groups' plans to embark on a European tour together (ANNIHILATOR has since been replaced on the billing by Swedish doomsters CANDLEMASS). The letter reads as follows:

"Schmier. I woke up this morning to find over 60 emails asking me if I 'let
you down' on a tour??? Then I look at some of the emails and these HEADLINES around the world on websites [includes link to BLABBERMOUTH.NET article].

"Why would you say something like this? I did not let you down and I do not know who told you this story. My label [AFM Records] did not agree to give me enough money in tour support to be able to come from Canada with my band and cover rehersal costs in Germany for a week. Regardless, no one let you down; we were not confirmed on this or any tour.

"I thought you were a good guy, Schmier. We have hung out and been friends for years. Remember only a few months ago, I called you to let you know that [Dave] Mustaine [MEGADETH] was looking for a good support act for his Gigantour and that I thought DESTRUCTION would be perfect for it??? In fact, I personally recommended you to him.

"Oh, remember I took ya out for dinner, bro?! And invited you to my shows?

"Thanks, 'friend'; who let who down here."
