ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN's AGUA DE ANNIQUE Preparing To Enter Studio

April 24, 2009

Former THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen has issued the following update on her AGUA DE ANNIQUE project:

"We are busy bees here; building our studio, writing the new songs, rehearsing and preparing for the last shows we will do before we 'disappear' for a little while and record the new album. We will play a nice mixture of rock and acoustic songs and we'll try out some brand new tunes while we are at it! When you have the chance, come and check us out. It will be good!

"After the shows we will enter our newly build studio. At the moment we have 11 songs ready to be tracked, but I'm still working on stuff. We'll be joined by some additional artists, with whom I have never worked before, which adds to the excitement as well."

Upcoming AGUA DE ANNIQUE shows:

May 08 - Patronaat - Haarlem (with Niels Geusebroek)
May 16 - De Bosuil - Weert (with Niels Geusebroek)
May 29 - Luxor Live - Arnhem
Jun. 13 - Groene Engel - Oss

AGUA DE ANNIQUE played a handful of concerts in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico in early March. Part one of a video documentary featuring highlights from the tour can be viewed below.

Anneke van Giersbergen staged two unique shows in February — at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, Holland (Feb. 12) and at the Oosterpoort in Groningen (Feb. 13). At these intimate performances, Anneke shed some light on her compositions through personal stories. Anneke was also joined on stage by Sharon den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION),Niels Geusebroek (SILKSTONE) and singer-songwriter Marike Jager. These artists also perform on Anneke's new acoustic album, "Pure Air".

As well as acoustic versions of songs from her solo debut, "Air", Anneke's "Pure Air" album contains some great collaborations. Besides Sharon den Adel, Niels Geusebroek and Marike Jager, Anneke is joined by Danny Cavanagh (ANATHEMA),John Wetton (KING CRIMSON, ASIA) and Arjen Lucassen (AYREON).
