ANKLA Bassist Checks In From OZZFEST

August 20, 2007

ANKLA, the Los Angeles-based band led by former PUYA guitarist Ramón Ortíz, is currently touring the U.S. as part of Ozzfest 2007 alongside OZZY OSBOURNE, STATIC-X, LAMB OF GOD, LORDI, HATEBREED and BEHEMOTH, among others. The group's bassist, Tony Castaneda, has issued the following update from the road:

"To tour the Ozzfest in a passenger van with a trailer attached and fighting the 100 and over degree heat, has been a crazy and amazing experience so far. From the first day when we hit the stage, an adrenaline rush came over us that is indescribable and has not left us till this day.

"So far we played 13 Ozzfest dates, and each and every one has been better than the last (performance wise). Along the way we've made new friends/fans that have come up to us to say that they have never heard of us until Ozzfest. To know that our fan base is growing on a daily basis, to us is the reason we play.

"As you may know, Ozzfest is one of (if not the) biggest heavy metal festivals in the country. The exposure we have been getting from this tour is immense, and can not be ignored!

"Aside from that, we have met some of the coolest, nicest, and down to earth people you'd ever want to meet. I'm talking about the bands! LAMB OF GOD, who is one of the biggest acts in the metal community, are there every chance they get, to check out our show, and hang out with all of the bands in the second stage after hours to BBQ and party with us all. IN THIS MOMENT, DAATH, DEVILDRIVER, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, NILE, BEHEMOTH, and HATEBREED have definitely become good friends with ANKLA, and have created a bond that will not soon be forgotten. Even Ozzy's drummer (Mike Bordin) has stopped by to check us out and personally invite us to see Ozzy's performance on the side stage.

"The only way to describe our Ozzfest experience so far is to say that it has been a heavy metal summer camp and it is far from over! Keep an eye out and be all ears, because you never know just who may join us on stage to share the experience!"

ANKLA's debut album, "Steep Trails", was released in July 2006 through Bieler Bros. Records.
