ANCIENT RITES Confirmed For Holland's EXTREME AGGRESSION FESTIVAL

Belgian metallers ANCIENT RITES have been confirmed for the Extreme Aggression Festival in Leeuwarden, Holland on June 10. It will mark the first gig in support of the band's new album, "Rubicon", due on May 15 via Season of Mist.

In other news, ANCIENT RITES debuted four songs from the album at their London gig last weekend. All four — "Templar" (mp3), "Mithras", "Rubicon" and "Invictus" — were "greeted with much enthusiasm by the English audience," according to a posting on the group's web site.

The follow-up to 2001's "Dim Carcosa", "Rubicon" was recorded at the Spacelab Studio in Germany under the watchful eye of veteran ANCIENT RITES producers Oliver Phillips and Christian Moos.

"Rubicon" track listing:

01. Crusade
02. Templar
03. Mithras
04. Thermopylae
05. Rubicon
06. Invictus
07. Ypres
08. Galilean
09. Cheruscan
10. Brabantia

Following the album's release, ANCIENT RITES — now a septet since the return of former members Domingo Smets and Raf Jansen in 2004 — will once again play live to spread their new music. Concerts all over Europe and the U.K. are currently being negotiated and arranged, so expect the band to be out there in full blast later in the year.
