AMARANTHE Singer Records Song With Ex-STRATOVARIUS Guitarist

January 23, 2013

Swedish singer Elize Ryd (AMARANTHE, KAMELOT) has recorded a song with former STRATOVARIUS guitarist Timo Tolkki for an as-yet-undisclosed project. Ryd is on her way to Gothenburg to film a video for the track, which she says "sounds great."

Tolkki recently opened a new mixing and mastering studio, Studiotolkki, in Helsinki, Finland.

The guitarist last year made his "Loneliness Of A Thousand Years" book available for free download at this location.

Tolkki drew up and signed an official waiver on May 20, 2008 giving up all rights to the STRATOVARIUS name. The remaining STRATOVARIUS members — Timo Kotipelto (vocals),Jens Johansson (keyboards) and Lauri Porra (bass) — have since recorded and released three additional STRATOVARIUS albums with guitarist Matias Kupiainen.

AMARANTHE entered the studio last September to begin recording its sophomore album for an early 2013 release. The follow-up to 2011's "Amaranthe" was once again recorded at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen.
