ALICE IN CHAINS To Perform At Tonight's 'Symphony Legacy' In Seattle

November 2, 2007

ALICE IN CHAINS will perform tonight (Friday, November 2) at Matt Messina and the Symphony Guild's 10th anniversary benefit concert (for Seattle Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center),Symphony Legacy, at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington. ALICE IN CHAINS will play some of their favorite songs while backed by over 200 musicians, including the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Girlchoir, an Australian Didgeridoo performer, dancers, and a patient musician from the hospital.

When asked by Seattlest.com how ALICE IN CHAINS will factor into tonight's show, Mateo Messina — who has been composing television and film scores and penning symphonies for 10 years — said, "I can't give away exactly what they're doing, but you will hear ALICE IN CHAINS songs. I wanted to take some of their songs and write for the full orchestra. They'll be preludes that really hint at their songs, and then they'll come in and play with the orchestra. You can think of their acoustic stuff, but there are a couple that are gonna be very intense. Full electric, drums, everything. We're doing something really fun at the end of the show."

ALICE IN CHAINS singer William DuVall recently posted a message online about the new music that the band has been writing. DuVall wrote, "As it says on the ALICE IN CHAINS website, we've been working on new material. The first in over 10 years. It's been deeply rewarding and the stuff is insane."

DuVall's comments were the first made publicly by a member of ALICE IN CHAINS regarding new music from the band, although reports surfaced earlier this summer that the band was writing new songs.

ALICE IN CHAINS reunited last year, with DuVall on vocals, for its first live dates since 1996. Original singer Layne Staley died in 2002.

ALICE IN CHAINS' 1996 "MTV Unplugged" album was reissued on September 18 with a bonus DVD featuring additional songs left off the original version. The tracks are "Frogs", "Angry Chair" and "The Killer Is Me".
