After SXSW, ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO will perform at Sidecar Pub (11202 Huffmeister) in Houston (tel. 281-807-4040) on Sunday, March 20.

In early 2002, ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO emerged as a refreshing and surprising new voice of improvisation combining his teenage metal roots with his adult love for jazz. Skolnick had been the guitar virtuoso Megaforce/Atlantic thrash metal group TESTAMENT. As his career progressed, he fell in love with jazz, moved to New York, earned a music degree and hooked up with a fiery young rhythm section. The group received raves from Downbeat, Jazziz, Billboard, Guitar Player, countless radio stations and performed all over the U.S. to a mix of jazz and rock fans.

The TRIO's latest album is "Transformation" (Magnatude) and it features six all new original compositions, plus arrangements of songs by JUDAS PRIEST, DEEP PURPLE, PINK FLOYD and more. 8-string guitarist Charlie Hunter is a special guest on "Transformation".
