Alberta's WHIPLASH OPEN-AIR FESTIVAL Postoned

July 9, 2005

The organizers of the the first-ever Whiplash Open-Air Festival, which was set to take place September 3-4 in Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, have issued the following statement:

"Due to the recent confirmation of the Gigantour coming to Alberta on September 6 & 8, 2005, we have decided it would be in the fans best interest for us to postpone the festival that was to take place on September 3-4, 2005. We don't want the fans to have to chose between shows, for financial reasons. This festival is meant to help the scene not create a competition. So we will withdraw ourselves voluntarily this year but we will be back next year, in late June, early July.

"We would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far, sponsors, bands and fans. We appreciate your confidence in us and we will be back next year."

Whiplash Open-Air Festival was slated to include appearances by ACANTHA, BLACKSKY, CESSATE, DECIPHER, DIVINITY, NECROBIOSIS, NECRONAUT, OPERATION WINTER MIST, SUFFERANCE and WORMBOX, among others. More information is available at www.whiplash-open-air.com.
