ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY Explains EYEHATEGOD Tribute Album Selection

December 14, 2006

ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY has issued the following update:

"A while back we were asked to be part of an EYEHATEGOD tribute project. Of course we said yes. EYEHATEGOD were a big inspiration to ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY early on and we are honored to be a part of this thing.

"When we recorded our track, 'Godsong', from 'In the Name of Suffering', we were between singers and so there are no vocals. Fortunately, (EHG singer) Mike Williams doesn't appear on the song anyway and so rather than attempting to re-sample the Charlie Manson overdubs that appear on the original track, we decided to let the music speak for itself and focus on trying to do justice to some badass riffs. (And let Ryan rip a few killer leads out as well).

"So anyway, you can find out everything you need to know about this upcoming monster at www.myspace.com/forthesick."

A brand new ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY track, entitled "Words of the Dying", has been posted online on the band's MySpace page. The song comes off the group's brand new full-length album, "Open Fire", due in March 2007 via Relapse Records.

"Open Fire" was recorded at The Etching Tin Studios in Richmond, VA with engineer Ian Whalen and is the group's first record to feature new vocalist Kyle Thomas (ex-EXHORDER, FLOODGATE).

Commented drummer Bryan Cox: "The name of this song is 'Words of the Dying Man' and it's the first thing that we want you to check out from our new record, 'Open Fire'. I can't express in mere words how happy I am with the way the record turned out. We're a stronger, more cohesive group than we've ever been before. Kyle Thomas, our new singer, did nothing less than knock our socks off on every track and he's truly the singer that we have been wanting for for a looong time."

Thomas added: "It is so good to be back doing what I love most... These songs run a wide spectrum of emotions and I believe that there are some truly special moments on this [album] that pleased my soul. Ian has really pulled something better from us."
