AFTER FOREVER Slam Former Record Label Over 'One-Sided' Collaboration

July 13, 2006

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal outfit AFTER FOREVER have commented on the recent release of a two-disc compilation album by their former record label, Transmission Records, containing the best songs from the band's first ten years of existence, plus previously unreleased material, non-album tracks, alternate takes, rarities and previously unreleased remixed versions. The set, which includes collaborations with such guest musicians as Sharon den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION),Arjen Lucassen and Damian Wilson (AYREON) and Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH),entered the Dutch national album chart at position No. 69 upon its release last month.

Entitled "Mea Culpa", the double-album has been divided into two chapters. The first chapter covers the period with guitarist/composer/lyricist Mark Jansen (now in EPICA),while Chapter 2 contains songs which the group recorded after Jansen's departure; a period during which AFTER FOREVER masterfully spread their wings and proved themselves to be one of the most interesting and powerful female-fronted metal bands in the world.

Commented the band: "The cooperation with Transmission is over. The ways in which this has come to pass are characteristic for the way our cooperation was actually like in the last period of its existence. It was one-sided and mainly in the best interest of Transmission. The band's interests were barely considered in the several decisions made.

"As a band, we have not been involved in the compilation of 'Mea Culpa' and neither will we, by the looks of things now, be involved in any possible future releases of the back catalogue. We are thrilled to say that we are about to enter a new stage in our careers with a new partner. Here the most will be made of the opportunities and the possibilities of the band."

AFTER FOREVER's fourth full-length album, "Remagine", was released last year on Transmission. The follow-up to 2004's "Invisible Circles" was recorded at Excess studio in Rotterdam, Holland and was mixed by Sascha Paeth and Philip Colodetti at the Gate studio in Wolfsburg, Germany.
