AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Sends Legal Threat To DONALD TRUMP Over Use Of 'Dream On' Song

AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler does not want Donald Trump to use the band's music in the billionaire developer's presidential campaign. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler's representatives sent Donald Trump For President Inc. a cease-and-desist order to stop using the AEROSMITH classic "Dream On" at campaign events. This is the second time Trump has been told not to use the song, having previously received a similar warning after an August 21 event in Mobile, Alabama.

"Trump For President does not have our client’s permission to use 'Dream On' or any of our client's other music in connection with the Campaign because it gives the false impression that he is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump's presidential bid," states Tyler's cease-and-desist letter.

Last year, Trump tweeted that "[it] doesn't get any better than that" after attending an AEROSMITH concert.

In recent years, left-leaning musicians have fought publicly against the GOP's co-opting of their songs and their respective messages.

Following Trump's appearance at his Manhattan Trump Tower in June to announce his fifth bid as the GOP's presidential candidate, he met the press with Neil Young's 1989 classic "Rockin’ In The Free Word" blaring from the speakers — a song which slammed then-President George H.S. Bush's administration and Young's perception of how Bush treated the poorer citizens of the United States. Young called Trump's choice of his song "a surprise," adding that "Donald Trump is Donald Trump, and I don't dislike Donald, [but] I don't agree with his policies… Donald just never asked me."

In 2012, TWISTED SISTER singer Dee Snider complained when Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan used "We're Not Gonna Take It" as his intro music at a rally in Pennsylvania. But he recently said that he was okay with Donald Trump using the song at the end of every campaign rally he holds.

Snider told TMZ: "Donald Trump is a good friend and a great guy, and I support him turning the political system on its head. The song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' is a song about rebellion, and there's nothing more rebellious than what Donald Trump is doing right now... I don't necessarily agree with every single thing he says, but I do support his spirit, his attitude, and people are just… They've had all they can stand and they're not gonna take it anymore, so 'We're Not Gonna Take It' is the perfect song."
