AEROSMITH's STEVEN TYLER Sings THE BEATLES At KENNEDY CENTER HONORS (Video)

AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler sang the last four songs of THE BEATLES' "Abbey Road" for honoree Paul McCartney at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors in Washington on December 5. Tyler performed a medley of "She Came in Though the Bathroom Window", "Golden Slumbers", "Carry That Weight" and "The End". He returned for the finale performance of "Hey Jude" along with Mavis Staples and James Taylor, who also performed a duet of "Let It Be". Meanwhile, Norah Jones and Dave Grohl performed the duet of "Maybe I'm Amazed".

The gala was recorded for broadcast as a two-hour prime-time special, which aired last night (Tuesday, December 28) on CBS from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

The Kennedy Center Honors recognize performing artists for their contributions to American culture. Winners are selected by the Kennedy Center's Board of Trustees.

McCartney had been named to receive the Kennedy Center Honors in 2002 but backed out because of a personal obligation.

Other recipients that were honored at the 33rd annual national celebration of the arts are: singer and songwriter Merle Haggard; composer and lyricist Jerry Herman; dancer, choreographer and director Bill T. Jones; and producer, television host and actress Oprah Winfrey.

"The Kennedy Center celebrates five individuals who have spent their lives enriching, inspiring and elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world," said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein.
