ABATTOIR's STEVE GAINES Launches ANGER AS ART

Following the tremendous response to the CD released by Steve Gaines (ABATTOIR, BLOODLUST, PAGAN WAR MACHINE, DREAMS OF DAMNATION, TACTICS) in late 2004, a new band called ANGER AS ART has been formed. The lineup is Mars Castro (COFFINTEXTS, DREAMS OF DAMNATION) on drums, Javier Marrufo (NEW EDEN) on bass, William Rustrum (HANGAR 18, RAVEN MAD) on lead guitar and vocals, and Gaines on vocals and guitar.

"The best thing is that all of these guys want to be here," says Steve Gaines. "They all believe in each other, and in what we can do together. The level of musicianship is very high. Each guy has complete command of his instrument. This is a brutal live band, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds."

Having performed two warm-up shows (including a live television appearance on "Metal Madness" TV in Los Angeles),ANGER AS ART will start with their first official show next Saturday, June 18 in support of HIRAX in Long Beach, California, along with more L.A. dates in support of the likes of M.O.D. and OVERKILL. Also in the works are dates at festivals in Chicago, Phoenix, Seattle, and New York. Other dates to follow.

"We will spend the rest of the year establishing ANGER AS ART as a live act on the back of the 'Anger As Art' CD. Hopefully around the first of the year, we will start work on our sophomore effort, entitled 'Callous and Furor'. The direction is set. I have written the framework for the next two recordings, but want the guys to write, and create also. This is a band, I want to emphasize that. It is not the Steve Gaines project. All I did was start the fire."

Regarding other promotions, ANGER AS ART has allied with street teams and distributors in key regions across the USA (New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Washington DC, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri, Oregon, Washington, and California) to spread the gospel of ANGER, where CDs, stickers, flyers, and other swag will be issued. "We are going with a mutli-faceted approach to promotion — something a band on this level or of this genre has never attempted," says Gaines. "We are also looking for artists — both professional and amateur, to become a part of the show. If you are a painter, graphic artist, photographer, sculptor, whatever... as long as you deal in themes of anger, we are all creating the same thing — an emotional release where words have no meaning.
