12-Year-Old Guitar Sensation JACK RIPPER Interviewed At ROCKLAHOMA; Video Available

XM's Boneyard host Eddie Trunk, who has a long-running radio show, "Friday Night Rocks", on New York's Q104.3 FM, conducted an interview with Phoenix, Arizona-based 12-year-old guitar sensation Jack Ripper at this year's Rocklahoma festival, which was held July 9-13, 2008 in Pryor, Oklahoma. The seven-minute clip, which includes footage of Jack's performance of the national anthem at Rocklahoma, can be viewed below.

Jack started playing guitar at the age of 7. He always loved music. He first was influenced by listening to Alice Cooper, who is still his favorite singer and band. After taking lessons for about a year and a half, Jack started making great progress. Now, he decided, was time to learn songs he liked such as "Schools Out", "Crazy Train", and "Smoke on the Water". As Jack learned these songs, he was having difficulty with the nuances of soloing, bending, etc. Jack was introduced to a great guitar teacher by the name of John Davis. John focused specifically on Jack's mechanics. Almost overnight, Jack was playing riffs and songs that he had only imagined himself doing. John also spent a lot of time teaching Jack how to learn songs by only listening, "by ear."

In the summer of 2006, Jack was introduced to his current drummer, Ron Fields. Ron took it upon himself to spend time jamming with Jack. It was during this summer that Jack came into his own as a performer and professional band member. Ron was and is a great influence.
