WINDIR: Final CD Details Revealed

August 23, 2004

Norwegian black metallers WINDIR will be joined by Vegard Bakken, the older brother of the band's late frontman Terje "Valfar" Bakken, during their final concert on Friday, September 3 at the Rockefeller Arena in Oslo, Norway. "Vegard wants to honour his brother's memory by doing some of the singing this evening," reads a posting on the group's web site. "Cosmocrator will also be joining WINDIR again and [doing] some of the clean vocals." The band will perform the show as a tribute to the singer, who tragically passed away in January.

WINDIR's final CD, a two-disc set entitled "Valfar, ein Windir", is scheduled for release on September 3 through Tabu Recordings. The first CD will include new material, unreleased material, tribute songs from other bands and live tracks, while the second CD will be a compilation of the music made by Valfar. It will include tracks spanning the group's entire careeer — from the first demo, "Sognariket", to the last album, "Likferd". All proceeds from this CD will go directly to Valfar's family.
