WHITESNAKE: Concert DVD Delayed Due To 'Business Issues'

WHITESNAKE's first-ever concert DVD, entitled "The Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues Show Live", appears to have once again been delayed due to undisclosed "business issues."

The DVD, which was shot last October at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, was supposed to be out at or near the start of WHITESNAKE's summer tour, which kicked off in late June. Unfortunately, the producer suffered a heart attack, which delayed work on the project.

In a posting on WHITESNAKE's official web site, frontman David Coverdale writes, "I wish I had more enlightening and happier news... I can assure you, however, that the delay [in the release of the DVD] has absolutely NOTHING to do with me or the band. It is currently tied up in some unfortunate 'business' issues which I hope and pray will be resolved soon. . . All I can say is that I want that bloody thing out there as much as you guys do..."

Coverdale has also revealed that the previously announced catalogue releases appear to have been indefinitely shelved. "It looks as if there will be no 'chronological'-order compilation CD forthcoming from Geffen Records, as I simply could not agree to their demands for having my recorded works for a much longer time period than the contract allows," Coverdale writes. "You see, I get ownership of ALL the WHITESNAKE-related recordings back from Geffen after almost 25 years in less than three years time, and, as usual, they wanted too much from me...for too little...a sign of these overtly corporate times. So...may I respectfully suggest that you ever so FAB Americanos who are lusting after WHITESNAKE 'compilation' albums, to jump online to Amazon and get some artist-driven ones from EMI in the U.K. (they are pretty fulfilling, if I say so myself)."

WHITESNAKE will tour Latin America later this year with JUDAS PRIEST.
