WHITE WIZZARD: First-Ever U.K. Headlining Tour Announced

July 26, 2010

Los Angeles traditional heavy metal band WHITE WIZZARD has announced a headlining tour of the U.K. in November.

Following its recent appearance at the Download festival in the U.K., where the band kicked off the Sunday on the Ronnie James Dio stage in front of thousands of fans, WHITE WIZZARD is set to return for its first-ever headlining U.K. tour. Suppor on the trek will come from PRIMITAI.

Commented WHITE WIZZARD bassist and founding member Jon Leon: "We are really excited to come back and do our first headline tour in the U.K. and Ireland. We're excited to visit all the great places we played with edguy and to see the fans again, and to play some new places as well. Look forward to seeing you all there!"

WHITE WIZZARD recently revealed its new lineup. Joining founding member Jon Leon, guitarist Chad Bryan and drummer Giovanni Durst are newly recruited singer and former CELLADOR frontman Michael Gremio, along with new lead guitarist and Welsh native Lewis Stephens.

Wyatt Anderson and Erik Kluiber left the group after the band's U.K. tour with EDGUY to pursue different paths.

"Over The Top", WHITE WIZZARD's full-length follow-up to the "High Speed GTO" mini-album, was released on February 8 in Europe and March 9 in the U.S. via Earache Records. The CD was recorded with producer Ralph Patlan (MEGADETH, UFO, MICHAEL SCHENKER) and contains "10 songs that will rip your head off," according to bassist Jon Leon. The limited-edition CD version includes two bonus tracks of classic metal covers.

WHITE WIZZARD formed in 2007 and shortly afterwards recorded its "High Speed GTO" demo, which only made it into the hands of a few select fans. Following a brief period of inactivity, the demo fell into the hands of Earache Records and the "High Speed GTO" song was included on "Heavy Metal Killers", a compilation featuring 13 tracks from the best new traditional-sounding heavy metal bands. Earache Records released the "High Speed GTO" tracks as a mini-album last summer.
