WES SCANTLIN's Arrest: Video Footage Posted Online

February 23, 2004

Ohio's WTOL-TV has posted video footage of PUDDLE OF MUDD singer Wes Scantlin onstage at Toledo's Headliners Bar Sunday night (Feb. 22) shortly before he was arrested after announcing he was "too fucked up" to play. Check it out here (Windows Media).

Scantlin spent four hours in the Lucas County Jail early Monday morning after being charged with disorderly conduct-intoxication, criminal mischief and misconduct involving a public transportation system.

All three charges are misdemeanors and carry a maximum fine of $500 and a 30-day jail sentence.

PUDDLE OF MUDD performed four songs, which fans said weren't very good, according to WTOL. The band then left the stage, Scantlin came back out, and spit on fans and threw a bottle at them.

Some of the 1,500 fans reacted by throwing bottles back at him. "I've never see anything like this before, the place was sold out there was a lot of people, they were turning angry as he kept being stupid on stage," said Jamie Berg, a PUDDLE OF MUDD fan.

Scantlin was arrested in his dressing room by agents with the Ohio Investigative unit. They were at the show dealing with other alcohol related crimes.

"Well he seemed to be relieved because he was pretty concerned about being harmed by the crowd," said Earl Mack, Ohio Investigative Unit.

Mack took Scantlin out to a patrol car and fans surrounded and yelled at him. Scantlin spit on the windows inside the car.
