VREID Hard At Work On New Material

December 29, 2009

Hváll (bass) of the Norwegian band VREID has issued the following update:

"2009 is coming to an end, and I thought I'd share some thoughts on the year that has been, and some info on the year to come.

"We released 'Milorg' [VREID's fourth album] during the first days of 2009. The response and reviews were fantastic, and from there one it went on and on. In February we did a co-headliner tour with KAMPFAR. A great tour indeed. Some really good shows, and social it was a great mix, I am sure we will hit the road again with these pagan Norsmen later on. Then we had the Inferno festival, which was a great show that we filmed for our upcoming DVD. It was immediately followed by the resurrection tour of metal legends PESTILENCE. PESTILENCE has always been among my favourites, and it was great to see them back in shape, and an honour to a tour with them. The tour had a lot organiz[ational] f**k-ups, but we had some good shows, and a great time these veterans.

"During the summer we played the biggest shows of VREID's history. Playing the main stage at Wacken was fantastic. A kick-ass production, and a fantastic crowd. Absolutely great way to start the day. I also have to mention our shows at Brutal Assault and Sumer Breeze. The atmosphere from the crowd were inspiring, to say the least. We thank you all for making these shows magical for us.

"After some Norwegians shows, we did our first North American tour. It was a blast. People were dead into our stuff over there, and we were surprised to see such an energy at the shows. We will definitively head back as soon as possible.

"In between all the shows, I have been working a lot on new material. Nine songs have been pre-recorded and send out to the other guys who have started working on them. We will keep working on the new material during the winter, and start recording in the spring. These days I am also setting up my studio with a lot of new equipment, and are very much looking forward to start working with the new recordings. We will probably use spring, summer and autumn on the album, so the fifth VREID album will get an early 2011 release.

"But, of course, we could not stay away from recording entirely in 2009. The abstinence dragged us back in the studio, and in October we recorded a cover song. This will be released as a digital single early in 2010, and we will give you more info on this soon. Also the work on our first DVD are being finished up these days, we are currently doing the last editing of the bonus material, and it looks like it will receive a March/April release.

"Since we will spend much of the time in 2010 studio, this means that we will most likely won't do any full tours. But we will do several festivals and shows, and try and cover as many territories as possible. We are also looking into doing shows in countries we have not played before. Some shows have already been booked, while we are in negotiations with others, we will give you more info on this in early 2010.

"2009 has been a fantastic year for VREID, and we would like to thank all you loyal and enthusiastic people out there for supporting us."

"Milorg" was released in North America on October 27 via Indie Recordings (with distribution and marketing duties handled by The End Records).

An e-card for "Milorg" is available at this location. The e-card features audio samples of all the cuts that appear on the CD.

"Milorg" was released in Norway on January 5, 2009 via Indie Recordings (January 19 in the rest of Europe). The cover artwork was designed by PC Groove.
