VREID Begins Work On New Material

August 16, 2009

VREID — the Norwegian band formed by former WINDIR members Hváll (bass),Steingrim (drums) and Sture (vocals, guitar) — has issued the following update:

"Writing this we are flying over Denmark, heading north again, after our last raid in Germany. We just played the Summer Breeze, which is the last summer festival for VREID of 2009.

"Playing in a packed tent at Summer Breeze was fantastic. The crowd was one of the best we ever played for, and it is very satisfactory to see so many people singing along the lyrics of the songs.

"We have had some fantastic shows this summer. Two weeks ago we played the main stage at Wacken Open Air. We kicked off at 11 a.m., and it was fantastic to see thousands and thousands of people ready for our show this early in the day. The crowd was bloody amazing, and production-wise it was a great experience. To be able to do such a show in front of a highly energetic crowd is a privilege. We thank you all for your great support at Wacken.

"Last week we did our first Czech Republic outdoor show at the Brutal Assault festival. Again we got to play for thousands of people, and people were banging and screaming their lungs out. This was a great festival, and we enjoyed hanging around and watching great performances by legends such as PESTILENCE, OPETH, MARDUK and IMMORTAL.

"During the summer, we have received several offers for shows and tours for the autumn. We have now agreed for a lot of shows for the autumn, and are looking forward to a hectic and inspiring last half of 2009. Hopefully we can release details concerning the shows the next days.

"It is great to see this continuously increased interest in VREID by record sales, people coming to shows, merch sales and tour offers. To build a band takes time, and working hard and building stone by stone is the only way to go. VREID feels more vital than ever, and we would like to thank everyone that supports us in different ways.

"In between shows lately, I [Hváll] have been working on our upcoming DVD. Hopefully it will be released early 2010.

"We have also started working on the next album, some lyrical ideas and the frames for 4-5 songs are set, and my guess is that it will be ready for recording in first half of 2010, and maybe an autumn 2010 release."

"Milorg" was released in Norway on January 5, 2009 via Indie Recordings (January 19 in the rest of Europe). The cover artwork was designed by PC Groove.
