VOLBEAT's 'Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies' Projected To Sell 35K-40K First Week

April 10, 2013

"Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies", the fifth studio album from Danish/American metal rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT, is likely to sell between 35,000 and 40,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to industry web site Hits Daily Double. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on April 9 via Universal Republic

VOLBEAT has released the video for "Cape Of Our Hero", the first single from "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies". The song has just hit rock radio, while the clip tells the story of a young man who looks back at his youth and remembers his father as the most heroic figure in his life. Guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen told The Pulse Of Radio that the song was very personal to him. "I lost my father four, five years ago and I believe that every man in this universe, you know, they have their heroes and most of us are looking at our dad as a big hero," he said. "And so, of course, I'm singing about a little boy who lost his father, and then at the same time he loses his belief in his superheroes."

Former ANTHRAX member Rob Caggiano, who was a producer on the new disc, recently joined the band as its new guitarist. He replaces guitarist Thomas Bredahl, who was given his walking papers in November 2011.

The new disc follows up 2010's "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven", which featured three No. 1 rock radio hits, "A Warrior's Call", "Still Counting" and "Heaven Nor Hell".

VOLBEAT is currently on a spring tour of North America.
