A slideshow of photos taken at a special by-invitation-only memorial held for late VOIVOD guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour on Oct. 22 at Le Savoy in Montreal has been posted online at this location. The gathering was attended by VOIVOD members Michel "Away" Langevin (drums) and Denis "Snake" Belanger (vocals), as well as ex-VOIVOD bassist Jean-Yves "Blacky" Theriault, Piggy's parents, girlfriend and other relatives and friends.D'Amour died Aug. 26 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer. The surviving VOIVOD members — Snake, Away and bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted (ex-METALLICA) — are expected to return to the recording studio shortly to resume work on their 14th album, tentatively due in early 2006 via The End Records. According to Snake, the album will be "the definitive VOIVOD" effort. "I am sure that Piggy would trust us to complete the project as a tribute to him."
