VIVA DEATH: A FOO FIGHTERS/FACE TO FACE Collaboration

June 15, 2002

More information has surfaced about VIVA DEATH, the new band formed by FOO FIGHTERS guitarist Chris Shiflett, his brother/FACE TO FACE bassist Scott, FACE TO FACE frontman Trever Keith, and ubiquitous session drummer Josh Freese (i.e. VANDALS, A PERFECT CIRCLE). The group's 15-song, self-titled set is due on August 27th through Vagrant Records, the same label that issued FACE TO FACE's latest album, How To Ruin Everything.

Produced by Chad Blinman, who was behind the boards for How To Ruin Everything and has been collaborating with FACE TO FACE for several years, Viva Death reportedly features a darker sound than both FOO FIGHTERS and FACE TO FACE, at times recalling the likes of FUGAZI or JAWBOX, according to Internet reports. Among the cuts set to appear on the album are "Fundamentalist", "Manipulate-Capitulate", and "Terrorism for Fun & Profit".

Although a possibility exists that the band will tour in support of the record, no plans have yet been confirmed. FACE TO FACE are due to begin a UK tour on July 11th while FOO FIGHTERS are taking a break from work on their fourth RCA album to allow frontman Dave Grohl to tour with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.
