Modesty is not one of VIRGIN STEELE frontman David DeFeis's stronger traits. Here's David offering his views on VIRGIN STEELE's current standing in the metal genre, as reported by Good Times in their April 24 May 6 issue: I honestly feel that what we are doing in VIRGIN STEELE is the true new metal, because we are seriously and intelligently advancing the course of the metal genre. We are intensely aware of our history and traditions, and we are constantly striving to push the envelope, and go beyond those boundaries. Our mission has been absolutely accomplished by constantly developing and bringing in new elements. We have forged a New Metal path without betraying our origins.
