VINNIE PAUL Auctioning His First-Ever Cell Phone

HELLYEAH/ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott is auctioning his first cell phone from the early '90s — a birthday gift from his brother, late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist Dimebag — via eBay. The auction, which ends on January 19, was started off at $1 with no reserve but at press time, it has generated more than 50 bids, with the current bid sitting at over $335.

A short video clip of Vinnie explaining the origins of the phone and why he is selling it can be viewed below.

Last summer, Vinnie Paul offered his personal oven out of his kitchen via eBay after he received "a newer fancier model for Christmas" from his father.

Vinnie Paul Abbott and his father, Jerry Abbott took part in a signing session for the "He Came To Rock" book on November 20, 2008 at Best Buy in Dallas, Texas. Photos from the event and a short report can be found at the Dallas Observer web site.

"He Came To Rock" contains over 400 pictures of Dimebag, along with a biography of his life written by authors Susan Doll and David Morrow ("Elvis, Forever In The Groove", "Marilyn Monroe: Her Life And Legend"). Also included are personal tributes from a number of metal's most prominent musicians, among them SLAYER's Kerry King, ANTHRAX's Scott Ian and OZZY OSBOURNE/BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's Zakk Wylde. The DVD portion of the package consists of the previously released "DimeVision - Vol 1: That's The Fun I Have", complete with never-before-seen bonus footage.

The book was compiled by Vinnie and his father Jerry Abbott and was in the works for more than a year.
