VICIOUS RUMORS Announce New Singer

February 12, 2008

Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers VICIOUS RUMORS have announced the addition of singer Ronnie Stixx (SHADOWKEEP, DIVINE RUINS) to the group's ranks. "Ronnie showed up and blew the band away with his powerful voice," stated guitarist Geoff Thorpe. "The first night he sang with us it was like he was in the band for years. It was amazing. Major worldwide touring is in the works. Our first show is March 29 at the Britannia Arms in Cupertino, California."

Ronnie was born in Los Angeles and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He has made a name for himself in the metal world with a vocal style that is melodic and aggressive. Ronnie's main influences are such great vocalist as Carl Albert (VICIOUS RUMORS),Tony Harnell (TNT) and Ronnie James Dio.

Ronnie is no stranger to the big stage, having performed at major festivals throughout Europe and the USA.

VICIOUS RUMORS is currently writing material for a new album that will be recorded later in the year at Trident studios in Pacheco, California with the production team of Geoff Thorpe and Juan Urteaga. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Murderball", "From Fear to Eternity" and "Over the Edge".

Lacey Conner, villainess co-star of VH1's hit TV show "Rock of Love" featuring POISON's Bret Michaels, conducted an interview with Geoff Thorpe at the Dean Guitars booth at this year's winter NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 17-20 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Watch the three-and-a-half-minute clip below.

Geoff Thorpe allegedly got into an altercation with the group's now-former vocalist James Rivera (also HELSTAR, ex-SEVEN WITCHES, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM) at the end of the band's European tour last fall.

James Rivera discussed his departure from VICIOUS RUMORS on the November 17, 2007 edition of "The Classic Metal Show". Download the 20-minute interview in MP3 format at this location (7 MB).

Geoff Thorpe spoke to "The Classic Metal Show" on December 8, 2007 about the alleged altercation that took place between him and Rivera.

The entire interview can be downloaded in MP3 audio format at this location (7 MB).

James Rivera's statement regarding his split with VICIOUS RUMORS can be found at this location.

Rivera appears on VICIOUS RUMORS' latest album, "Warball", which came out in the U.S. in October 2006.
