VENOMOUS CONCEPT: The Rebirth Of Two-Finger Punk Rock

January 20, 2004

Former BRUTAL TRUTH vocalist Kevin Sharp has contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET with an update on VENOMOUS CONCEPT, his new project with MELVINS/FANTOMAS guitarist Buzz Osborne as well as NAPALM DEATH members Shane Embury (bass) and Danny Herrera (drums).

As previously reported, VENOMOUS CONCEPT will be performing at the Double Door in Chicago, Illinois on Friday, February 13 (see flyer for the gig). Also set to appear are NAUSEA L.A., the acclaimed deathcore merchants featuring former TERRORIZER vocalist Oscar Garcia. Tickets are priced at $13 in advance or $15 the day of the show. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. The Double Door is located at 1572 N. Milwaukee in Chicago. Tel.: (773) 489-3160.

Says Kevin, "For a long time, Buzz and I wanted to put something together... and I sort of dropped out after the DAMAGED thing... got into computer art and that sort... Did some work on a NAPALM tour... got caught up with Shane... put one and one together and it just made sense... We've been doing this shit for 20 years so I figured it would be cool to celebrate that by recording a hardcore punk record from that time... Yeah, it may not be for everyone, but it was an excellent idea and were pretty down with it... We got that first show coming up on Friday [February] 13th — which I think is a fantastic idea... and since Oscar [Garcia, NAUSEA L.A., ex-TERRORIZER] tracked some shit on the record... we decided to put together a show and keep it in the family... NAUSEA go back a ways with Shane and are great guys... should be brutal... Also is the loudest band in Chicago BURIED AT SEA — very monolithic and the Last Vegas... Chicago cock rockers... that will be recorded for a 7" or something... We are also record more materials for future releases... Our debut 'Retroactive Abortion' is recorded, self-financed and produced, should be out as soon as I clear up some former issues...Currently I'm working on the site... there are some real player streams of video and audio... art and whatnot... It's two-finger punk rock, we call outlaw punk, so kick back a few beers and reminisce... Hope to see some of you at the show here in Chicago and once everything starts to roll out... we will be playing a ton more shows."
